Hey GD family! So what is the deal with visiting this establishment? We will be camped at Ogilby for Thanksgiving as always. A couple years ago we took a ride there for lunch and drinks. While leaving there some LEO’s were camped out at the intersection pulling people over. I know it’s not legal to cross the railroad tracks to get there by OHV’s but is it legal to be on the graded road?

I thought they were saying...go on the highway to go over the tracks in your OHV....Bad...get a ticket.. go over the tracks to the side of the highway in your OHV..BAD get a ticket...they use the Railroad tracks as a kind of barrier to keep the OHV off that side.

Last season I rode my electric scooter over to Boardmanville from wash 22.
On my way back I walked the cutoff to wash 10 and saw a lot of tire ruts that went straight over the tracks.
Not suggesting this route but it appears some people are doing it.

I've never been, but would like to at some point.

Assuming we jump out and push the car across the tracks, is it "rideable" from that point?

Yes, but your going to spend some time either on the side of a road or in a courtroom and possibly both explaining how you pushed the car across.  You will also possibly get an invite to perform stupid human tricks, some of which are not easy even sober as a Judge, so you get that bit of explaining too. They will also take that opportunity to see if anybody in your party has any invites to see a judge, your vehicle is properly equipped and it's registration is in order and any other possible violations to your persons.

Drive over in a street legal vehicle your chances of a conversation are 80/20 in your favor, show up in a sand vehicle with paddles  10/90 in theirs. With knobbies heading south via sand trails that are not Ted Kipf ( graded marked dirt road) 50/50.

Best times to beat the man are of course off weekends and weekdays.

The days of going over there in an off road vehicle are done, used to go every trip with the family for a burger and a beer.  Total bummer for sure.

Thanks everyone. I too thought the deal breaker was driving an OHV on the highway and crossing the railroad tracks. Since I’m coming from the south dunes it would be a different route for me. Either way, seems like an unwanted hassle. Bummer

Don't quote me, but I believe you can cross at Ogilby road, and take Ted Kipf road all the way up. That way you aren't crossing where they are likely to be hanging out. But it will probably be hard on tires. There may be a softer road along side Ted Kipf. I have some friends who have done it before, but they had dirt tires.

there are many trails on the other side of the tracks alot of them are marked. we take rides to the gold mines, palo verde mountain, alot of different washes to run also the bradshaw trail Colorado river, gold rock ranch museum, herds of wild donkeys up by palo verde. I have ridden thousands of miles on that side a lot of cool stuff to explore. i think the site i got all the maps from was californiatrailmaps.com. when leaving g to goto the other side there is a gard rail from wash road to the tracks about 50ft. i think it was up by wash 14 or so there is only one set of tracks have found a good spot and we just jump over them easy jump 2nd gear and send it on a quad or bike. it is easy to get stuck on the rails if you try to drive over them have to hit them on a 45 angle so only one tire is going over at a time. for a while last year wash 8 was dug out but it got blocked off. also check their hours or call before going the are not open everyday.  from ogliby its easy cross the tracks stay on the right side of ogliby for a while take the trails to gold rock ranch then there are other trails from there that will take you into the back of boardmanville follow his fence around to the front. go on google maps and you can see the trails good luck.     edited put the dirt tires on

Haven't been since the "old" days.  I'd like to take my girls there.  Maybe next trip.

There's still underpasses to take a quad.  Did one this weekend.  Just have to research Google Earth for some trails there.
