Hello Guys,  im a little out of my comfort zone but this customer wants me to do a lot of things to his car.  One of those is that he has a Fab9 rearend with leaf springs, they mounted the shocks inboard of the leaf springs but in doing so welded in a bar above the diff housing to mount the shock tops, needless to say the diff hits this bar and the exhaust position was compromised lower because of the same bar resulting the exhaust hitting the diff too.  he has an unlimited budget.  simply my suggestion was to cut the cross bar out giving more clearance for exhaust and diff, and make my own upper shock mounts  from inside the trunk area.  maybe a 8-10 hour job.  once i mentioned that he said that "everybody" is going with a four link kit and he wants the ride quality to be the best it can be.

So  i have no idea if that is true or not.  is a four link far superior or can a leaf spring set up work just as well?  dont want to go down one rabbit hole to find out the other rabbit hole is a better option when finished

will post more pics of the issues once car is back on the lift

4 link and coil overs will be far superior than the leaf and shock even if he isnt looking to put down tons of power

thanks guys  keep it coming.  no drag racing  just cool factor and a cruiser.  he is leaning towards a QA1 kit for $2500 at the moment unless i hear some bad reviews

part number R256-170 and a sway bar kit

if you want to outsource, I would not think twice about taking stuff to Lang..  https://www.lpracing.net/  from the sounds of it (& the looks of it, as QA1 shocks are being discussed), throw it together it really wont make any performance difference.

Lots of options for an unlimited budget. The quickest and easiest would be the Ridetech 4 link kit. Then get the front Strong Arms to match the setup and shocks. You can get the complete set-up with rearend.

Or go Roadster shop Chassis and do it right.

Depends what the end goal is.

Here is a Roadster Shop SPEC Chassis I did with the LT4.

beautiful car!
I called the roadstershop and thought they sell a 4 link kit,  they said they only do full chassis!  so thats probably not out of his budget, but its outside of my comfort zone  lol

where are you?  is that what you do for work or is it a hobby?  you never know he might just want to..........

Im in Menifee. I have a Small shop as a side business. DM me if he wants to go that route. The Chassis can take 16 weeks or so from order date to arrival, depending on options. Not a quick job if that's what he is looking for.

My vote was for a four link and coilover that will give you the ride and less wheel chatter for power to the ground. Obviously there isn’t enough tire on the car for that power plant so he may not care so much about that! Unlimited budget, my vote is do it right with a full chassis. Best ride quality he can get.
