Had a busy year last year and have a very supportive wife. Would like to leave the kids home and take her on a nice week long or so vacation…. Somewhere with a nice beach and somewhere we haven’t gone before. We’ve done Fiji, Bahamas, Hawaii and want something different?

Looking to keep it around $1k a day.

What do you say? Any input is appreciated.

Ive heard really good things about Cancun and Xcaret from family and friends. Guy from work is going this June and said hes been twice before and loves it.

I did an all inclusive in Cancun a while back.  Awesome time.  And, can be done WAY under your budget.  Stayed at Bahia Principe Akumal.  They have a couple properties that are a small trolley ride away that share amenities.  Tons of stuff to do off property that is blast if you feel like the beach and free booze aren't cutting it for you.  LOL

Cruised over to Cozumel for the day .  Rented scooters.  Drove around the whole island bar hopping one day.  That was a blast.

I've heard Belize is the place to hit. Serenity central. Plenty of English speaking there too.

Barbados was great  long flights we stayed at sandals resort. Island is like 7 miles wide and 21 miles long super friendly people

Got married in Akumal 20 years ago.

Heading back for a friend's wedding and to celebrate our anniversary in June.

Costa Rica is next on our list. Had multiple friends and clients give it great reviews. Supposedly very American friendly and easy to get around. Also you will see beautiful beaches and the jungle

Word to the wise from the experience a work friend just had at a all included vacation he just returned from

7 day vacation was great he said, resort was maybe half full was treated like a king.  On the last night they offered free COVID testing, your going to need a clear test to come home. The next morning a rep from the resort called them on the phone and told them she tested positive for COVID. They were told they could not leave the room and a security guard was placed outside the room. No room service no leaving the room food was delivered 3 times a day.

The entire time she felt fine no symptoms nothing. on the 5th night with the evening meal came a home COVID test.  THey both tested clear and the next morning were allowed to leave.

The 6 day vacation was more expensive than the 7 day original stay, He say's he is fighting the charges. Plus the cancelled flight that wasn't done 24 hours in advance. Say's what went from one of the best vacations into one of the worst and most expensive.

He didn't tell me where he stayed only that it was Jamaica

All my friends are now flying out of Tijuana, no need to test to fly home.  You land and walk across the border to your car.  Much easier if you are staying in Mexico

Isn't this an ABC thread???????  He should have the scoop on vacations like this......... Paging ABC............

My wife and I just did 9 days in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic at Secrets, Cap Can all inclusive.

Was awesome!

This was our worry as well.

Our travel agent said it would be $90/per person for the test.

When we had it done it ended up being $35/person.

People we met had friends that got Covid on one of their trips and the resort let them stay in their room free of charge along with all the food included.

But what you are describing is something that had me pretty nervous about doing the test.
