To ensure fitting Veterans Day tributes occur across the country, VA and the Veterans Day National Committee (VDNC) encourage communities and non-profit organizations to submit applications to host VA-recognized regional Veterans Day observances.
Sites are selected based on community involvement, regional impact and continuity. Each approved regional site receives a supply of official Veterans Day posters, military ceremonial support from the Department of Defense (DoD), where available, and a certificate of appreciation from the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for inclusion in the site’s official Veterans Day program. In 2022, VA approved applications from 32 regional sites, representing 25 states and the District of Columbia.
The VDNC, comprised of representatives from nearly 50 organizations dedicated to serving and supporting America’s Veterans, plans the National Veterans Day Observance at Arlington National Cemetery and promotes regional events that honor Veterans of all eras and military branches for their service and sacrifices. The regional events range from ceremonies and concerts to parades and school programs that all celebrate the vital contributions of Veterans to American life.
To apply for consideration, download the regional site application and return it to the address listed on the form by May 1, 2023. Applicants may also email the completed forms and supporting documents to vetsday@va.gov. The committee will notify applicants of its decision in July.
Contact the Veterans Day National Committee at vetsday@va.gov if you have questions about the application process or the Veterans Day Regional Site Program.
