Mine came minus the gennie, and the gas tank lol.

anyone ever used an onan propane gennie? how does that compare to a gas model. I know i can use a regular generator, but i found a propane one new for about 1/2 of what a new one is, and propane would be better since im missing the fuel tank anyways.

buddy had a propane genset on his Moho. I remember it using a LOT of propane.

What Raspadoo said. I had a propane powered 5500. With 2 acs running it sucked about a gallon an hour.

thanks, looking at the picture of the tag he sent me he says its LP but clearly says gasoline on the tag lol.

what size was the genny?  i think i have a 6.5 ONAN genny that only has 100 hours on it

i don't know what it came with originally. either someone stole it or it quit and they yanked it out, and the fuel tank.

Can you go smaller 2000w portable genny, solar panels and decent batteries?

Add a mini split AC down the road. Would have AC/heat off the batteries or the gas sipping 2000w genny.

Im slowly moving towards electric. Just got a super cheap brand crockpot for free. Pulls 130watt on low and 200w on high. Perfect for cooking on a cold sunny day and let solar rays handle the power.

Definitely inverter generator. You also have portable power for other purposes and don’t have something shaking the RV at 60hz all day

I had a friend with a propane unit, he took it out and tossed it. Too loud, and used a ton of propane. I'd look for a gas one for sure...

I too have a propane unit on my camper (Onan 2500). It sucks fuel down fast. Running the a/c it will drain a bottle in 4 to 5 hrs. Only use it when traveling now. When dry camping I use a Honda inverter unit.

my first thought was to just add a sliding drawer where it was, with a predator ig on it and call it good enough
So many cheap inverter generator options out there, find the one you like most that fits that space and your needs.

Predator 3500 / (delete the CARB box and call it a day!)

Ideally a dual fuel inverting generator in just the right size to meet your needs with a little room to spare might be the best of all worlds and worth the slightly added cost.

I think I have seen that champion has some of those on the market now that are pretty well sorted since they have been making inverting gens for so long, so they should be priced and sized to meet most needs.  Not sure on that tho as I have no need and have not done any research.

Pros and cons to each... propane will never gum up a carb but keep in mind allot of them may make something less than full rated power on the bottle.

Diesel inverting gens are the bomb for efficiency but rare and expensive.

On my Toy Hauler I have a built in Onan 5500, but I mainly use a predator 3500. I will run it all weekend and it maybe consumes 5 gallons. The onan is really only used for both AC's during the summer. I would just buy a Predator and call it done. It will even run for about 12 hours on single tank.
