Is anyone a fire sprinkler tech on here? My father in laws house has one of the sprinkler heads falling out of the ceiling. 

 
You used to be able to buy them from Grainger back in the day. Not sure now but maybe worth a check?

 
The head is falling out of the ceiling???? The heads have a coverplate on them, did that fall off? OR is the whole sprinkler lower? Take a picture and I can probably be more of a help. Where are you located?

The head and the cover came out of the ceiling. Will try to get pictures later today as it’s at my FIL’s house. It’s in Rancho Cucamonga. 

 
Somebody stepped on the pipe or the wood shrunk a little at the clamp and it slipped down. Did you try pushing it back up? It slid down....didn't fall out. I can get you a guy to fix it if you need but you may just be able to push it back up. If it's relatively easy to get to in the attic you could check it out from that side.

The sprinkler itself has a little glass filament. This holds the water inside the head and is designed to break at a certain temperature (fire). The cover has a couple of solder joints that will melt (at a lower temp then the glass in the head) and the cap will fall off exposing the head. Edit to say, I mentioned the head design to say, DO NOT break that glass! :classic_biggrin:

We are not sure exactly what happened. I am going over there in about an hour and will post pictures once I am there. It’s a single story so might just need to climb into the attic to check it out.
