Ok, so last week I'm driving and hear this rattle by the corner, passenger side in or around the dash!
So, obviously something in the glove box, take all the contents....(original window sticker, manual, wife's sunglasses, extra hitch pin)
Drive away...still hear the rattle,
Must be in the center console...take out everything, NOPE still rattle but it really is coming from the corner of the dash on the passenger side.
I check the door jams, all the plastic, under my weather-tech mats, cubbys in the center console and doors, behind the seats, pop the hood and check for loose ANYTHING!!!
Nothing...
What in the actual EFF!!!!
So, I tell my wife...ok you gotta listen when I drive and I point to the area where the rattle is coming from. I take off...
There...you hear that rattle from over there. She says yeah I hear it but it sounds like its coming from your side???
:kenk:
What...NO, it's coming from right there (her side, corner of dash). She says, NO...it's coming from your side! :explode:
Ok, you drive...she gets in and we drive off.
I hear it and so does she...she says, WOW, it's coming from the passenger side, I said, uh...sounds like it's coming from driver's side!!!
:simrak:
By this time, I'm about to lose my mind, Cheryl is completely baffled and just offers up a sorry babe, I don't know what to say!
OK, the center vents, has to be in there. We get home and I get the brightest flashlight I have and look...in EVERY VENT!!!
Nothing...
The next day, I'm at my brother's and ask him if he'd go for a drive to see what he thinks.
He hears it and says same thing that it's from the diver's side...it's my steering column!
Ok bro, now you drive........Whoa...what the EFF...it sounds like from the passenger side now!
We get his air compressor and blow out all my vents as there's something loose in there.
I take off and head for home...nope, still rattling.
As I'm getting on the freeway, I reach up to get my sunglasses out of the upper console...hmmm, that seems a little loose. I tap it and I hear it...
I tap again harder and hear the rattle...What in the actual EFFity EFF EFF????
Holy sh*tballs...that's it. My upper console was loose. Apparently the acoustics were sounding like from each side, since it was from the upper center of the cab. :simrak:
I get home and google how to take it apart. Apparently it is a KNOWN issue with 2015-2019 GMC/Chevy Trucks.
Easy fix:
Pull down the sunglass holder portion, that allows you to grab the lip of the center panel part that houses the side lights switch and 3 button remote control switch.
Just pull down and TADA...there was the screw bouncing around!
There are 2 screws that hold that whole thing together, put the one back in and tightened up the 2nd one was it was coming loose!
WHEW!!!!
My sanity is back!
:lmao:
