I’ve been perusing my Sand Sports back issues and came across this article, “History of the Dune Buggy” in the Spring 1997 edition. Check out Gil and Grant posing with their first version of the Big5! I knew the Big5 line was inspired by a military vehicle they built, and here it is. The FAV Fast Attack Vehicle. The FAV ran a diesel engine, automatic transmission and air bags! Where are all the early Big5s at? Dig em out and bring em to the OSR Old School Roundup March 7th 2026!IMG_7525.jpegIMG_7526.jpegIMG_7527.jpegIMG_7528.jpeg

A bit more trivia. KingGlamis, (Doug) was a writer/photographer for SandSports magazine, and I set up the web site sandsports.net for the company. It was live for a while, but
after a slowdown in the publishing industry, (Still happening) the company was sold.
I had transferred total control to the company so they could have firm ownership of their intellectual property prior to the sale. (More trivia: the domain sandsports.com was owned by a volleyball outfit and I couldn't get it). So dot net was registered.
