My kid is just a big 10 year old. He’s outgrown his ktm65 time to move him onto something bigger. At first i was thinking an 85, but now considering a kx100 or even crf150r. How much bigger are these bikes? Im not worried about the extra power, he can handle it. I just dont wanna be buying another bike in another season

He really makes the ktm65sx look small

Fwiw i may sell this if anyone is looking 2014. I bought it 2 years ago and it was literally brand new had maybe an hr on it. Has maybe 20hrs now tags current title in name in handIMG_8383.jpegIMG_8381.jpegIMG_8382.jpeg

Just bought my daughter a '25 KX 112. 2-stroke if you wanna stay with that. Seat height is about 34", if I'm not mistaken it's the same frame as an 85 but bigger motor. It's a fast lil bike.

do the big wheel. He will love it ! Stay 2 stroke !

I don’t think you can go wrong with the Honda personally. I had a xr80 & Xr 100 and loved both

I went down this path.
- CRF150 (air-cooled) - NOPE. No power. Just a pig.
- CRF250R - YES! I took it to Precision Concepts and they internally lowered the shocks 2 inches. They cut a new ring groove and clip it. You keep the CG and balance as if it was stock. As he grows, you just rebuild the shocks and take the clip out and it goes right back to stock height. This also helps teach him throttle control and handling a bigger bike while still touching the ground. For reference, my daughter was 5'3-5'4. She did great with it. I ended up selling it because she quit going. The bike sold fast as all the other women/kids in camp LOVED that bike as it had power and it fit them.

Second daughter wanted a bike...
- TTR125 - Nope.
- CRF150 water-cooled/big wheel. - Yes. Great bike. Lots of fun. Good hard-packed bike, still a little bit of a pig in the sand.

I also tried a KLX160 (air cooled) - Nope. It still lacked power.

Try and find a water cooled bike for sure. There is a noticeable power difference.

DEFINITELY, consider a 250 and talk to PC about lowering the shocks if you guys are doing any sand or if you think he's ready for that power but just needs a shorter bike.

Been through this many many years ago! Son started at 10, TTR 90 to TTR 125 to YZ85 to CRF250 to CRF450! I was a used/new bike salesman for many years! And an ambulance driver for those years also! lol Good luck!1736127460061.jpeg

Had a kx85 fall in my lap today at a almost nothing price. Think i may have to pick it up and do this again soon. Finish out the season on it. I’ve been getting killer deals in motorcycled quads lately. Trx250x for $800 trx250r for $2k and this @ $1kIMG_1354.jpeg

150 big wheel for the win, great bike and can ride it for a long time. In the hrad pack he can get may years out of it, in the sand he will want more power in a few years.

Mamma will likely want it when he’s done with it. She used to ride a yz250 before kids

CRF150R Big Wheel for the kid now, then the wife later or a camp bike.

I've seen some GREAT deals on these on OfferUp lately.....can't go wrong with a Honda.

Picked up a super low hr crf150R today. That settles that. Thanks for all the input.

ktm65sx for sale or trade if anyone is looking. Its 100% ready to goIMG_8456.jpeg
