I'm going to be soon putting a crate LS3 and a 4L80 into a C10 (If all goes well over the next week or so)...but I'm struggling a bit on who to go to for purchasing a rebuilt, or potentially even a low mileage 4L80e.  Can anyone recommend a shop in San Diego? Online?

Stall speeds - Thinking somewhere between 2500 and 3000...From what I've read and watched online this seems like a well-rounded choice,

Going off what GM did in the performance packages...

Stockish LS3 2400-2800

Closer to 500hp and above  3000k+

My brother did the "connect and cruise" 525/LS3/6L80 in his C10.  Rips!

Funny you mentioned that - after your question i remembered that they make a connect and cruise for the LS3/525 - and the converter on that combo is 3000-3400, seems like an easy decision - use what Chevy provides on that combo.

Weight and gear ratio has a lot to do with it, as well as intended use.  Most builders should be able to specify something based on all of the above.

Have to be in San Diego if you're buying it, then putting it in?  Lots of online vendors, etc, that have good track records and helpful staff.

If you would've started this thread with your Texas trip one, I would've sold a NIB unit I have for MY TBSS that is just chillin' in my garage.  Coulda picked it up on the way through PHX.
