2.5L subie water temp gauge install

What’s up G! 
 

I want to install a water temp gauge on my 2.5L turbo subie powered 2 seat sand limo. The only working gauges I have are oil pressure and a boost gauge. Oil temp gauge isn’t working so I was planning on replacing it with a water temp gauge (see pic). I’ve been looking at some autometer gauges but I have some questions.
 

electric or mechanical gauge?
any recommendation on where to install the temp sender on this engine?

I installed one of these gauges made by glow shift and i am pretty happy with it. Easy to install and comes with a sensor and able to change color of gauge at any time.
