Im looking for a 12 volt cooler for some of our longer trips out.  We like cooking and with a family of 5 food takes up a lot of room, and I'm tired of buying ice.

Who has bought what and liked it?

So we plug it into the Car? Or does it stay in the Moho? Peace

I contemplated getting one, but for how cheap ice is it just didn't seem to make sense to me.

One of the guys at work has a jeep he uses to go offloading with.  He and his wife go out for 7 to 10 days and he loves his.  Iirc it is a dometic as well.  He built his into his rig and wired and plumbed it in.

Bought one of those F40 chineseiums last year for $150. It was a 23 quart and would get down to 15 below in a snap. It quit after about a year. I tried to fix it by adding a port to it and charging it up but it leaks out in about 4 or 5 days. Gotta be the cooling coil leaking cuz I can't find the leak. Even so I bought another one but a 55qt for just over $200 about 2 months ago. It has 2 zones and works awesome. Hopefully it lasts longer than the last one did.

i bought a norcold 10 yrs ago about 60 qts gets cold real fast and will freeze 2 cases of water over night no problem

I have had a 300 dollar Alpicool for almost 2 years now.

It's been reliable.  Now that I have solar and lithium I just leave it on 24/7.  I got it on Amazon and it comes with 12v cord and 120v cord.

I just bought a small one for my 23 F350. I have the dometic console dometic in my 21 F350 and it's been great other than no Tstat and freezes everything at the bottom.

We have a Dometic, and it works great. I had it narrowed down to Dometic and ARB, and the Dometic had some kind of rebate/promotion, so it was a little cheaper.

Runs on 12V or 110V, chills down quickly, doesn't draw a lot of power, and has adjustable low voltage shut-down so it doesn't run the vehicle battery dead.

I borrowed my buddy's Dometic for 2 trips and worked awesome....so Awesome I decided to get my own.

I wanted a Dual zone, so I got the ICECO 63.4QT VL60 Dual Zone Metal Fridge Freezer with Cover.

Has the Danfoss compressor, very good and super quiet.

Was $200 off when I purchased it and free shipping.

Plugged it in the other day...took about 30 min to cool.

Next trip is in a couple weeks, can't wait to try it out.

We've had a chinesium one for year, survived many a Jeep trip, surplus refrigeration for the motorhome, etc.  Love it.  Hit the vent with a leafblower last trip and it dusted the driveway, LOL.  Still ice cold and will explode a canned beverage if you set it too low.

Speaking of: most of these are configured so the walls are the temperature you set it to.  Grab a fridge thermometer or laser thermometer and see what the actual temps are for the food you're trying to protect.  I set mine to 27* to make 34* beverages and food.

Iceco portable fridges come in various sizes, more reasonably priced than the Dometic stuff.  Iceco uses Danfoss SECOP compressors (German made, I believe).  Run on AC or DC.

I have the VL45, use a Jackery 1000 to power it (using DC).  Keep it in my enclosed trailer, never a problem
