It's Saturday June 28th 2025.. What is everyone doing this weekend?

Haha. Small world. Yeah, David is a buddy of mine from scouts/Jeeping/duning. If your father-in-law can prove he can lift it without spilling hot coals on himself he can have it for $20. That just covers my cost of the handle which I was going to re-use on a 2.0 attempt.

It's Saturday June 28th 2025.. What is everyone doing this weekend?

Comes in at 6.5 lbs without charcoal! It's 16 gauge, so just too thick and too big, but that's the metal I had on hand and I was trying to get this donation off the to do list. I was toying with a smaller version, but it seemed like it wasn't going to hold enough charcoal. Then I over did it...

It's Saturday June 28th 2025.. What is everyone doing this weekend?

The Vista Optimist Club has a car show coming up, so I'm cutting some metal for raffle donations. Not big ticket items, but sometimes people are happy to just win something. I won some sweet Baja Design lights there last year. Every summer when car show season shows up I'm reminded of how my...

    Sand Sports Super Swap 2025

I went to the Super Swap this past May. It's much smaller than the Super Show in the fall. My buddy & I were looking for various used sand rail parts and we did find a few good deals. There was a good mix of new parts vendors and individual guys selling off their old stuff they don't need...

    Sand Sports Super Swap 2025

I'm going. I don't need anything in particular, but if I find a good find a good deal on some 15x10 , wide 5 aluminum wheels I can mount up some spare paddles I want to try out next season. Oh and maybe a spare steering box if it's a steal of a deal. I should be selling some of the stuff I...

It's Saturday May 3rd 2025.. What is everyone doing this weekend?

I'm working on a dash for my buggy today. I'm more than over having a mess of exposed wires going every which way from the radios that are attached to the cross tube with hose clamps. Time for something better. I got the aluminum for this two piece dash cut out after many hours of size...

    RV Storage (current value/cost) discussion

There's an RV storage service/app that has been popping up on my feed. https://www.neighbor.com/ I don't know anything about it; not giving a recommendation; just passing along info.

How was your 2024/2025 Dune season?

Four trips if I remember correctly, but I spend time in Ocotillo Wells and Superstition also. I got a late start this year after swapping in a Honda V6 over the summer and it took well into fall to get some things sorted out. I'm pretty happy with the extra power from what I had, but I will be...

Well its Friday March 28th 2025.. What are you doing this weekend?

Continuing with adding metal storage containers to my trailer, but I just ran out of welding gas, so that's not getting finished this weekend.

    Summer Upgrade to the SU

Interesting. My current trans (091) has a 1.44 4th gear with a j35A4 n/a and I'm not liking it that much. It tops out too soon and it's limiting my top speed. Of course I could just rev it more, but I'm pretty conservative with the rpms. Maybe I should just get over that. haha @ChasingSand...

    Tire question

I have Rogue rear paddles. Mine were made from a 34" tire. Their website shows their 33"& 34" in the same category/price, so I guess it's essentially the same as a 33. Maybe it just depends on the carcasses they get their hands on.

Lessons Learned from a Life-Threatening Accident

Thanks for posting this. Good info and reminders. Scary stuff that you think only happens to the other guy, but you never know.

    The official Honda Thread

I felt like if my fans didn't come on until 205 or 210 I would be playing catch up trying to get the temp down, so I put my fans on a manual switch. What are your radiator and fan sizes? Is it getting good air flow or are there obstructions? My 2 seater runs in the 190-195 degree range. No...

When did you first go the Glamis?

1989. A buddy took me. He was on a Suzuki 500 Quadzilla. He borrowed a friend's '88 Honda 250R Fourtrax for me to ride. I followed him around and had a pretty hard time keeping up even though I'm sure he was going slower than normal for me. We crested a hill and I found myself at the top of...

Camber angle on front of sand rail?

Yeah, I am a little toe in right now. That changed some also when I replaced all the heims. Pretty sure I was toe in before. I definitely don't want to give up any high speed stability, but I should play around with it next trip between rides to see if I find a position I like better. Sounds...

Time Delay Relay - Anyone use them?

This sounds great! Can you point to where I can get that type of switch? On mine.. I currently have the fans on a manual switch because I like to have more control of when they come on. I have a Honda V6 and as mentioned, the ECU triggers the fans to come on at 205 degrees. That's a bit late...

Camber angle on front of sand rail?

What does everyone like to run for their front end camber? I just replaced all the heim rod ends on my a-arms, so my camber is off from what it was prior to replacement. Right now it has about 2 degrees negative (top of tire is inwards). Not for any particular reason other than I didn't keep...

It's Saturday Feb 1st 2025.. What is everyone doing this weekend?

Our Sunday morning ride hit a snag. My buddy lost the clutch on his 450. Tried a couple of things, but ended up strapping his bike on top of my buggy. Git-r-done.
