Old School 2 Seat Alumicraft Rebuild

Great info here. What do the old shocks measure eye to eye and shaft length? Would love to hear about the rear setup too.

Pull to tighten belts / sewn in pads

More comfortable than belts with pads. Previous belts I had with pads would rash my neck. I currently have pull up style and do not like them, because they are difficult to adjust. I will go pull down on the next set. Right on- Hope to see you out there next season. Jason has some great...

Pull to tighten belts / sewn in pads

2" impact cam locks Almost everyone in my group switched to them and love them. No neck rash and really high quality. https://www.impactraceproducts.com/16_5_PRO_Series_Integrated_Camlock_Restraints_p/restraint-integcam-pro-2x2.htm

SU Sand Cars New Building and Dyno

I went back and looked at the photos, the open tubes was on an older SU getting remodeled, and I was just referencing the rear cage where it terminates and they cap it. Doesn’t really matter, because the cars still have great lines. The suspension design in the front just reminded me of early...

Some sound advise right there ;) Sorry, how is that "the same comment"?

SU Sand Cars New Building and Dyno

I have never made this comment anywhere else. I have said that Buckshots have a lot of bump steer and commented on some of the poor finish quality. These new SU cars are beautiful; the fit and finish is really nice. It's just an old school suspension design that will never function like a newer...

    Proper Seat and Harness Selection

I am bummed to see your response a topic that as been proven and researched extensively. I am not going to argue with you on this forum, but please do some research before creating false conclusions. It's really simple- a suspension seat allows the body to move independently from the vehicle...

    Proper Seat and Harness Selection

Comparing an OE application to a race or sand car isn't a sound argument. We don't have airbags or other saftey features OE applications have. The issue is spinal compression and body movement in a suspension seat. Agree that helmet is important, but disagree with the seat choice isn't as...

    Proper Seat and Harness Selection

Great post Ace. Few things to add... From Jeff Furrier of UPR Racing Products: "A shell seat like a Sparco is crash tested to meet FIA standards that are compiled in part from real crash data. The FIA standards are strict and it’s not cheap to get a seat tested and approved, which keeps...

Lessons Learned from a Life-Threatening Accident

I am going to always wear my neck restraint with my helmet now. Helmets are getting very light, but the neck restraint will help keep your head on your shoulders and hopefully prevent a broken neck. I wear a Simpson hybrid sport with a carbon impact helmet.

Lessons Learned from a Life-Threatening Accident

The crash caused whip lash, first forward then back into the seat. The whip lash backward into the seat caused a brain bleed, unconsciousness, and a concussion. He was not wearing a helmet. I believe a helmet and neck restraint would have prevented the aforementioned injuries and allowed him to...

Lessons Learned from a Life-Threatening Accident

We were very lucky that a dear friend of ours is going to fully recover from a terrifying accident last weekend in Glamis. I am going to leave details of the accident out of this post and focus on what I learned, including precautions that could have helped in the situation. Wear your helmet...

    Rear hub upgrade

The outboards they sell today are really geared toward desert racing. Roy at proam advises against outboards for sand cars or Prerunners.

    Rear hub upgrade

Personally, I would just jump up to the 33 spline HD bearing. Saves you from cutting the trailing arm apart and would be a big upgrade from the 27 spline. The HD link I posted above requires a new flange on the trailing arm.

    Rear hub upgrade

Check with Parker first, but Pro Am also makes an HD microstub specifically built for big tires and HP. I would go this direction before a true outboard or mid board. Outboards are not good in the sand since the outer boot doesn't rotate and consistently fills with sand...

You can transfer Arizona titles between Arizona residents online, but it requires some work from the seller. https://azdot.gov/mvd/services/vehicle-services/title-and-registration/etitle-transfer
