    2d Shift Shaft Support

Also, there are bushings in the nosecone that wear down and require replacement. They are a total pain in the ass to replace, but will help alleviate the leaking seal.

    2d Shift Shaft Support

The problem with the heim joint is that it is not sealed and sand gets in there, grinding and binding up the shift shaft over time. Weddle sells a sealed linear bearing carrier that can be mounted to the chassis and support the shaft. It also has a zerk fitting to grease it. These are not...

    Would you buy this?

I've talked to many people, all with different brands of UTV's. The owners of the Wildcat XX cars have more good things to say about these cars drive than any other brand. The car itself had a good base design, but like most all other brands, they found places to cut corners and save cost...

Recreational Helmet Use in the Dunes

https://glamisdunes.com/ams/mrc-grudge-open-face-helmet-solution-to-motion-sickness.14/ Dave's article on the home page stimulated me to start this thread about wearing helmets for recreational use. I am certain this topic will ignite some confrontation among many readers and contributors to...

    Mendola Main Seal Leaking

The vent could be a cause, but I have my doubts it will solve the issue. (hopefully I am wrong and it is the fix) Like Jason said, the input shaft could be bent, seal surface could be grooved, but another rare but likely occurrence could be a mis-alignment between the engine and trans. Weddle...

    2D Mid-Engine Modifications Needed?

Been a while since I've worked on one of those, but I don't remember there being any special modifications required for installation. Just make sure the bushings and seals are in good shape before you install it. The bushings wear out and create a good deal of slop in the shifting.

Textron’s Arctic Cat struggles. Could this be the end?

If I had the money, I would buy the offroad division. Good cars, just need a little extra care to bring them back to being a competitive car.

    Gear oils, what’s your flavor?

Some people love it. I have never cared for it. We found that it runs 10-15 degrees warmer than traditional oils, likely due to how heavy it is with all of the solids in it.

    Gear oils, what’s your flavor?

I don't think there is unless you are running more than 1000 HP/TQ, even then, it's debatable based on what I've seen.

Racer Front Engine Sand Car - Why?

A lot of the cost for a 6100 drivetrain package is the underdrive. That is where they shot themselves in the foot when they went to 40's.

    Gear oils, what’s your flavor?

I've seen results from almost every oil used, and I will say that the Maxima Pro-Gear 75/190 has been some of the best among all brands. Regarding the "straight to the dyno" comment, this has resulted in more trans and clutch failures than most anything else. Gears, bearings, synchros all need...

    2D Mid-Engine Modifications Needed?

Confirming what others have said above. Pull the diff out with ring gear attached and flip so that the ring gear is on the drivers side of the trans when installed in the car.

Racer Front Engine Sand Car - Why?

R&P's have been fine. 3rd and 4th gears are another story.

Racer Front Engine Sand Car - Why?

Have to run a really low 9" rear end ratio, which makes them weaker. And you still have the big splits between the 3 speeds which makes the torque converter work harder in the sand, which is what builds the heat. They are cool cars, but have their limitations over a transaxle car with a 4 or...

Racer Front Engine Sand Car - Why?

There have been a few variations of front engine sand cars built over the years (V8Rails built a few back in the mid 2000's). Most are built to use cheaper drivetrain parts like a turbo 400 or Ultraglide automatic transmission and either a solid axle rear end, or independent Ford 9" rear diff...

    2D Mid-Engine Modifications Needed?

Not picking on you Richard, just clearing up a few things in this post. 1. PBS no longer exists as a company. The only parts to found would be good used parts, or buy new "replica" billet nosecones from Rancho. 2. There is a difference between the Type 1 and 2D version of the mid engine...

    Speed UTV

The torque limiters in the trans and front diff are tested at the factory power output. Once you throw more power at them, they will slip easier. I will be working on some improvements to these if they become more of a problem. For what it worth, I like the fact that Robby put the limiters in...
