Ebb and Flow of the Glamis Crowds

Been coming here since 1998. Slowest was during the bust of 08 and then Covid. Sign and Drive will make it to where I don't think it will ever slow down again. Sucks.

    Coilover spring rates

So how did the new rates work? That is quite a drop in the rear. General rule of thumb is to not have the top spring differ from the bottom spring by more than 100lbs.

    Weekend Warrior Ramp Door Pix

LOL. Nope. We already tested that. Not too much heavier than before. Plus I'm strong. :)

    Weekend Warrior Ramp Door Pix

Getting close. Added more steel in the small sections at the top of the door where I drive my rail in. Used Loctite 410 to adhere the steel to the outer skin. There is now steel supports everywhere under where I drive in. Then used pressure treated 2X4 down the center to screw the 2 sheets...

    Weekend Warrior Ramp Door Pix

Ramps were rated to 3500 lbs. per Weekend Warrior. There is never more than 2 tires on the ramp at any 1 time, not with the full size car. So no more than 1500-1600 lbs on the ramp.

    Weekend Warrior Ramp Door Pix

Wanted to update this and add what my ramp door looks like. Has steel under the wood. I was surprised. Going to add more steel when going back together. Will post more as progress continues.

    Stuck CV - Or Trans?

Trans needs to come out. Car rolled once you removed the CV/Axle because these trans axles are "open diffs", meaning 1 side will spin while the other side doesn't. With the axle out, lift the car off the ground and spin the side with the axle still attached. The opposite side should still spin...

    Coil carrier set up?

King recommends a certain amount of oil to be used for coil carriers and no reservoir. Amount of oil is based on shock size/stroke. Coil carriers can have nitrogen/no nitrogen on them. It is a preference. I had Kevin McMullen add Shrader valves to my coil carriers just so I have another knob...

More of a bummer is if you have Outboards. :)

School me on sand cars lol

S4 minimum. Midboard hubs minimum. 2" Hollows. Bypass all around (rear minimum). Need to be able to turn wrenches. Boost makes duning much more fun.

    LS1 Cam Spec

Apples and Oranges. No cam you install will behave like a supercharged motor. Been there, done that. Cam'd my LS1 etc. Then started with a 1.9L Maggie, never looked back. Now I have a stroked LS3 with a 2.3L Maggie. This stuff is addicting.

    Holley ECU

Could be. I didn't wire my car. I had it done.

    Holley ECU

Coolant uses the sensor in the head. Intake temps uses a sensor on the blower. That is how mine is wired. Holley harness has everything there. Just gotta plug in.

That’s the sending unit. There is a table in the input table to give it the values.

Good enough weekend for a topic

Roadrunner is super quiet this weekend. Dunes by pad 2/3 are still trashed. South of gecko is better than 3 weeks ago. 9 nights out here for me. Buddies are showing up Tuesday.

    Holley ECU

My engine oil temp sending unit was $40 autometer unit. Programmed the TermX with the correct table and works great. Engine runs 200. Engine oil runs 230-250. Agreed that u can’t think engine oil temps are the same as engine coolant temp.

    Chevy LS PCV question

When my motor was NA, I just used the stock system, but the motor was 100% stock. If a NA motor is built, I would vent it to a catch can.

    Which impact do you prefer

Might as well start a poll. Everyone has their favorite. I went DeWalt.
