I have had 4 buggy's, I use the turning brake every ride. I have never broken a gear or spider gears in any tranny. We are talking over 500 days (roughly 15,000 miles) of duning.

If you have Outboards, you should be replacing them every 7-10 years, they do fatigue. A lot of carnage you see in the dunes are buggy's 20 years old and breaking their outboards, cheap insurance to replace.
