I'm probably the last guy still using a corded impact. Time to get a cordless but looking for something that works well in the garage and desert.
From quick searches it seems the Milwaukee fuel, Dewalt Max, and Makita seem to be the go-to!

Any feedback between the three or any other good ones that I am missing would be appreciated.
I'll be needing to buy the impact, charger, and battery since most of my tools are corded.

I am not concerned with compact size and do not plan on bringing it in the buggy. Mainly using in the garage and leaving in the trailer for trips, wheel changes, and repairs.

Love my Makita tools.

But, if I was buying new into an 18v (or "20v" if you're DeWalt) system, it would be Milwaukee. Way too many good tools in that line.

BTW, the 12v Milwaukees are probably stronger than your corded impact. :)

Milwaukee for the win! For some reason, OfferUp has a ton of sellers of this stuff. Not sure how they get it, I don't ask lol but I have everything milwaukee at this point. Lawnmower, weedwacker, camp light, impacts, drills, sawz-all, digital tire inflator, and probably some other stuff. This last trip, I used Heavy duty impact on wheels, the camp light to cook at night outside, the tire inflator a dozen times on all the leaky atv tires, and the drill on some random drilling. No charging batteries if not overly used. I only have 3 of the bigger batteries and even then the fast chargers are quick. Since my first 3/8 milwaukee impact, I knew I was about to get all Milwaukee.

Milwaukee as well, I have a few fuel impacts. On the 1/2" I'd get the one with 3 settings, I have it and one with no settings and when tightening lugs etc you have to be really careful not to overdo it. I use my 3/8" a few time a week, super handy.

My Kobalt has kicked ass for a couple of years now.

I know that I DID NOT pay that amount for it, had to be around $100. Damn thing has taken off every lug nut I've needed it to and then some. It's main use is our trips all over CA and UT.

I also use Ryobi stuff... have built the same shit that guys that make fun of my tools, have.

I put together a 30' Versatube setup with my Ryobi 18v Impact, 5 years ago and it also... still kicks ass.

I often just use 1/4" hex to socket adapters in my impact driver for assembly of all but super huge shit (axle nuts). I finish tightening everything by hand/torque wrench anyway.

Picking a cordless system ( lets face it that is what your doing) is like picking a lane on the freeway during rush hour. Pick a lane and stick to it. You the casual user are not going to notice a difference between Ryobi, Kobalt, Dewalt, Makita or Milwaukee. They all will work just watch the specs on the tool you are getting. I recently got a 1/2" off brand impact that was more than half the cost of Milwaukee's simular impact. I won't be using a 1/2" impact that often so I don't need the high dollar version, I just needed one that fit the batteries I do have.
That is what you need to look for first and foremost is battery cost and don't buy the cheap knock off's they are not worth the money. I have gone thru more cheap knock offs than I care to admit and still have my original small button factory battery. While all the knock offs work fine until one day you try and charge them and they don't take the charge.

So find the price point you want buy combo tool/ battery and charger and stick to it.

I bought the fake Milwaukee 1/2 impact off Tik Tok for $59 since we have that line of battery's.
I was skeptical at first, but I would definitely buy it again. Has broke every lug nut so far on 8lug wheels, have had it for almost 1 year.

Same one I got I bet and for the exact same reason.

That was fast! Thank you for all the feedback. Looks like Milwaukee seems to be the winner.

I recently went Milwaukee everything. It's insane how user friendly it is. I switched all of my tool boxes/bags over to milwaukee packouts as well and built another set of tools for the dunes. Just roll it over to the truck, throw it in the bed, and it has everything I need it in. It's crazy handy and all the tools work fantastic
