Has anyone here ever purchased private farm raised meat, poultry, and/or pork?

Earlier today, my order of a ¼ beef (Black Angus cow), 50-lbs. of poultry, and-15 lbs. of bacon, and 15-lbs. of sausage was delivered! Fresh from the processor.

I grilled meat, poultry, and pork and the difference in texture and taste was blatantly obvious. Jeebezus! I can't believe what I've been missing!

I'm done with store bought!

Thanks! Had no idea they were doing this and love supporting local when possible.

We don eat a ton of beef but we get all that we do from a local butcher, its all locally raised. I like getting the off cuts like tenderloin tips etc and intergrading them with other dishes. We do enjoy a fillet or ribeye from time to time as well. Couldn't tell you the last time we bought beef at a grocery store... (y)

I would order, but now it is just the wife and I and I try not to eat frozen meat at all.

I get a 1/4 beef every year from local farmers and try to get 1/2 a hog. I raise my own chickens for the eggs. Butchering them is more work than I want to do.

My friend and his kids do it every year, pig and turkey this past year, needless to say we had a great Thanksgiving. This year there will be a steer, possibly 2, 1 coming from another kid in 4H. He was thinking of doinf a raffle for 1/4's. All the proceeds going back to the kids in 4H. I'm definitely buying a ticket if it happens

Thanks for posting that Esco!

Amy and I are on our 13th year of farming now. It's been a great adventure and completely changed our lives for the better. We feed several GD.com and RDP families on the regular with a monthly drop off to Victorville, Fontana, Norco and Santa Ana (plus two monthly trips to Havasu). Available products and pricing are on the website fortrockfarms.com .

We're constantly evolving and improving, pretty proud of where we are today. Call or text me anytime if anyone has questions that the website doesn't cover. Joel 928-486-4043

We have our own chickens. Raised some for meat once. Mom (Korean) was a savage slaughtering them, lol.

Wasn’t worth it though. Too much mess/fuss.

Been considering this, we buy so much meat from Costco...seems like a better plan and healthier too.

We had friends that sold their butchered hogs and beef but it was really expensive. Even with bro deals.
We're poor so if we get into a better bracket, I'd definitely get a 2nd freezer for a half animal or 2.

Just an FYI if you are butchering your own chickens....THEY are supposed to be DEAD BEFORE you put them in the de-feathering tub......if not they make an awful sound. Carry on. 1768070500916.png

I either have to get a new GF or make her understand the Expiration dates. She will go out to the freezer in the garage and toss all of the meet that has passed its date, even though it has been frozen the entire time, Nothing like opening what should be a full freezer to see the bottom.
