STU 33 Blaster #1 Cut w/ 091

That’s a great set up, wouldn’t mind going that route. Did you notice any change when it came to sliding with a narrower wheel on the 1300 plus’?
The car slid good. No turn brake, and only rear brake on that car. I was able to initiate a slide with a tap of the brake pedal. I had tried several different tires on the 12" wheel before getting a hold of the 10" wheels. I was real happy with that combo.

Did you think of running the 33's w/them being trimmed, or stagger cut....easier to spin?

I remember a Buddy of mine ran 33's on his Bus box with a Turbo'd subie.. Worked for a Bit then one weekend he broke the trans first day so he brought two spare trannys and we switched it went out for the next ride Broke that one right away we got back switched that one to his last spare broke that one that afternoon so we put My spare trans in his car to get through the weekend and I went to his tires in the am with a Razor knife and staggered cut the paddles for him as he walked out his moho laughing at me. Never broke a Trans again in that car..

Definitely thought of it, but I wanted to see if anyone here has done it yet and could share their experience.

I’d also like to not do it, so when I do the 2d upgrade I have enough bite. After this weekend, I’m definitely waiting for the 33s for when the geared correctly 2d upgrade happens.

The car is a lot more usable, forgiving and fun with the 1300s.

Taking a whole new route with the paddles and my car, the blasters are up for sale. Message me if interested.

Kind of late to the party here but, for what its worth, dont be scared of trying the Blackbird series.
I ran a 2 seat Colorado sand car with a NA J32 honda with a set of 32 Blackbirds. First tried a set of #2 paddles and that was perfect on the flats but on the steep dunes it just couldnt pull - too much paddle. Then we tried a set of #1 paddles. That was perfect! Gave it just the right amount of wheel spin to keep the RPMs where you needed it for the steep dunes. The extra height was a great improvement from the 13.00's but still gave the forgiveness we were looking for from stepping up to the 33's.

I also got a set of 31 Blackbirds, cut them to #1 paddles and have them on my 2000 Alumicraft. 2.0 Subi with a 091. I brought a set of 14.50 Dune Sports to swap out on our last trip out and never put them on because these blackbirds kick major butt!! They slide great, I can still light them up (200hp) and again, the extra height makes 2nd gear longer and more useful with less shifting through the smaller stuff.

Blackbirds are not just for sxs, they are excellent sand rail tires too.
