The official Honda Thread

Thanks guys!! And I got a new main seal going in as well. Thanks again for the responses.

What are you guys doing to seal up where the bracket on the adapter plate meets the engine (marked in red)? A liberal amount of RTV on the inside and outside?IMG_3250.jpegIMG_3249.jpeg

The amount of sand between the engine and adapter plate when I tore it down.IMG_3232.jpeg

The sand is coming in from the top. The bent sheet metal piece bolted to your adapter is typically enough for the bottom. Clean up the mess, install a new seal, and plug the highlighted holes with a finger full of silicone.

Do you think that much would come in just from the two open holes?

I also replace the needle bearing every time I take apart now, it might feel perfect, but it is an easy replace.

Thanks guys for the responses!!!

How’s everyone feel about harmonic balancers?

Sorry. Meant harmonic damper. Multitasking is not my strong suit. 🤣

Was wondering if it’s worth it. Shooting for 500 to the wheels but the j series dampers are pricey AF. Unless someone has a line on them, or a discount code?

Same, same.

There are people making way more than that with the stock unit.

Wasn't there somebody that complained that their engine valley filled up with sand or water after they had sealed those holes? Maybe I'm recalling that wrong..
Something to think about.

I know Chris at benchmark performance would use weather stripping around that seal that squished between the trans and the motor

Probably. People bitch about free ice cream.

When Hecker machine was making adapter plates, he included a billet ring that "stepped" into the plate and pressed lightly against the seal housing.

Has anyone had any issues scanning for codes with a stock computer. I modified my harness to as usual and included an OBD port but when I connect a scanner it says it cannot read vehicle information. I hooked up the K line, Power and I think one other to the OBD port.
I have order a bluetooth OBD scanner and was hoping to use the Torque app to monitor engine.
