It's Friday July 4th 2025.. What is everyone doing this weekend?

Fishing in S.E. Alaska. Had one family group out on the boat for 3 days. The second group is here now and today is day 1 of a 3 day trip. Weather sucked for first group but today was much better.
 
So did everyone make it through the 4th?
 
Made it through all the Fireworks chaos in our hood. Looked like Glamis on New Years. Started around 6pm lasted till 10pm. Never understood what idiot lights off fireworks in the day time. Really surprised nothing caught on fire
 
Took advantage of the extra day off. Replaced brakes on the wife’s car and replaced front struts, motor mounts, and oil change on my work car. Pool get together today and tomorrow. I feel to old to call it a party anymore!
 
Camped at Carlsbad state beach with friends Thur and Fri night, installed new speakers in the boat yesterday, and taking it out to San V for a test run before a river trip next weekend.
 
3 Days of stripping wood stain off cabinets, sanding, etc. Still not done, such a shitty messy process. Would have been better to rip off the old ones and put new, but nooo....somebody's wife watches DIY videos all day loong and gets these "ideas" and dreams.

MLK had a dream and look what happened to him, just saying.

I think at some point I had hot dogs, burgers and beers and fell into my pool a few times. Was otherwise a working weekend start to finish, so glad i can rest here in the office LOL
 
Great boat to Cat 41 ft Riviera....Wow..... current at the Island was all messed up.... little wind, sunny, Beautiful day, Tons of Calico bass.....Great day. baited a 4 ft Mako on the way over...fun to play with.....Lots of $$$$$$$$$ in those harbors and Islands.......
 
I had six days off, mostly focused on getting tasks done at home.

For the 4th of July, we went to Carlsbad and stayed at the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort since my In Laws have a time share there. It's a great time/place for the kids to get together and one of the best spots in the world for Eye Candy (Yes, far better than Havasu). The staff set up Hot Dog and Root Beer float carts for the kids in the Courtyard and it's usually the same people there every year so the kids also get to see friends they have met over the years. We also walked around Carlsbad, got Ice Cream, visited a friend at Crackhead's Bar and did some shopping.

Yesterday, had another BBQ with my Ocotillo/Old Street Racing buddy, Tim. Got the girls together to swim in their Pool and run a Tank through the streets of Vista (actual kids not shown)...

Just got back from skating up the Strand to visit friends at the Ironman Triathlon, a Hermosa Beach tradition that is now 52 years old (run a mile, paddle a mile, then drink a six pack of yore preferred ICDB). Winner is the first person to complete it and hold it down for 20 minutes afterward. It's a South Bay right of passage and a good time was being had by all (except those who were puking). It's grown huge over the last decade and there had to have been over a thousand people there.

Gonna lay low until noon or so and then head down to the pier to see what shenanigans are going Figure I'll play the rest of the weekend by ear . . .
