Anyone in or around Buckeye? It's a long, longshot but could be looking at relocating in that area.
Appears to be a newer built town. Far enough away from the traffic of Phoenix?
Puts us a lot closer to Glamis, friends and family.
Any real life Zoner input appreciated.

Buckeye is a new very planned out city and fast growing. They have master plans and its well thought out. Their freeways are not built yet and you have to rely on I10 to get into Phx or the east valley.

If you work out there and NEVER have to come into Phx, it may be a great place, but dealing with I10 and the east bound traffic into Phx is horrible.

I live in the East valley and do not go to the west side for any reason just because of the traffic getting back into town. When i go to G i drive at night to avoid that traffic area.

Getting into or out of the 10 is the worst.

If you want to move to PHX and have anything that even remotely resembles a social life, if it's west of the 17, write that shit off.

I remember when there were no stop.lights in Buckeye, no truck stops, and us80 was how you got to Phoenix AND I.10 ended at Dysart...I think.

I also remember the old bridge and when the Gila flooded/ran round it and Painted Rock was the biggest lake, totally, in the state.

If you need to go into Phx for work it will suck. If your in town and don’t leave it may not be that bad.

We’re in Peoria and like it on the west side. 25 min from the lake. Shooting and dirty bike riding same distance. Plus if I go to glamis or river it’s not that bad a drive.

We looked all over Phx area before moving and every part has its bad side, pluses and negatives.

I'd be working in the Buckeye area, wife working from home and travel to SD occasionally.
Is there shopping, restaurants, doctors, etc in Buckeye? Enough stuff to avoid going deep into the city for general needs?

With traveling to Glamis and SD , you would definitely be closer than those of us who live in Gilbert and Queen Creek..
Buckeye is also not too far from Litchfield park, Goodyear, and Avondale….all of those places have the amenities you’re looking for.
All areas of Phx have good and bad areas, just like SD.
If you don’t have to go to downtown Phx or to the east side of town every day, your commute might not be bad.

If you stay on the far west side, then not bad. If you have to go East past the 303, good luck.
It is building up out there, but that is still pretty far West.
You may have to go East into town a little to find the stuff you are looking for.

I stopped taking I10 to Glamis cause the 10 just sucks.
Truckers rule that road and will go .75mph faster than a following truck and hold up traffic.
I went back to taking the 8 to get to Glamis.
Added 25min, but totally worth it.

pretty much they have everything you need its a decent sized town and grown alot. not sure on the medical front.I drive by often as i work in so cal often.Like said though if you have to commute to the phx area the drive would suck but sounds like you wont so lucky on that.

When i am home i rarely hit a freeway usually stay in the area so i dont really deal with any traffic.Usually takes me 30 min to get to buckeye from peoria

Being close to work and not commute is huge, I hope it works out for you guys.

Traffic is just traffic, avoid when you can obviously, its not the end of the world LOL

My wife's cousin Heather and her husband live in Goodyear. It is nice, getting built up...starting to add restaurants and shopping.
They try to avoid going east into Phoenix. They have a killer house, RV parking, large lot, quiet community. David works for the nuclear plant just west of Goodyear. He's Homer Simpson, LOL!
Gets Sofa King Hot in the summer...most of the homes now have epic insulation, solar, etc...
Good luck!

Yes there is enough stuff in Buckeye to make it so you wouldn't have to drive into town. It is also close enough to town that when you do have to go you just work around traffic times.

That being said I also see you more of a rural guy and you should be able to find some stuff out that way.

west side for nearly 30 years. Buckeye can be congested seems to be continuous construction on roads. if you work on the west side not bad, if you work east of 303 then it wont be fun to get to and from work. Not LA bad. all the east side folks will say its crap and i spent a few years on the east side as well. only dig on buckeye is the cost of water in most places, seems to be higher then other locations. I drive way west to tonopah and have driven that way for close to 30 years, that drive is not bad.

We're on the west side closer to Avondale than Buckeye. There is everything you could need on this side of town so there wouldn't be much need to travel into Phoenix with any regularity.

Sure sometimes the traffic sucks but it's nowhere close to what you've experienced in CA.

The west side is almost an hour closer to the dunes, the Colorado River and commutes into SoCal.

Bansh didn't deal with traffic in San Diego. He lived up on the mountain in Julian and was basically in North County which unless going north on the 15 after 1 pm or south in the morning rush... it didn't affect him. Doesn't affect me and I'm in the city down the hill from him.

Bansh... Just like everyone says, anything west of the 303 should be acceptable to you. A buddy of mine just left Sun City for Florida and he was working in Surprise. His comment was the 303 is the new "5 Freeway" in AZ and you'd have everything you'd need in Buckeye, just clarify where your work would be taking you so you don't get screwed.
