Well like the title says How was your Dune season? When did it start? When was the last trip of the Season? How many Trips did ya get in and How many days in the Dunes?

For me Personally My season Started Vets weekend and with all good intentions pretty much ended that weekend as well.. I did however go out for the day during New Years weekend and Cheff let me drive his Mav R around a bit. Then I got out for a Quick overnighter end of Feb sleeping in my truck and then For the day to Help out with the OSR and then finally a quick Overnighter to help with the Golf Tourney in March..

My season HOPEFULLY will Start again Vets weekend..

I basically doubled in intensity, for the last 15 years i have ran a wet sump, the last 2 years most of the group including myself went to a Dry Sump, pretty much our full group, besides one or two out of 15 cars,
So the Last Two Years, are intense with driving, long dune racing on the rev limiter the full time, non stopping, not sure how long the suspension will take this LOL, and now i get dizzy when we stop,

Started out Behind the 8 ball but got caught up / Got hurt in December so that put a dampener on things but was able to get 35 plus days in for the season and had a BLAST - For me the season is not over - Headed out a bunch in April and May and at least 1 night ride a month till October - then next year God willing will be a lot more days!

I love that place more than anything....It just makes me happy being there Duning / Family Time / Friends and just the rush when it all comes together makes me whole!

Heaven On Earth if you ask me!!!!

Andy

Worst season of the Century.
Family / Girlfriend commitment wiped out My usual October trip, so didn't get out until Vets to kick things off
After that I didn't make it back out till Early December and that trip ended with car problems, I made a good/ bad decision at that time to not take my car to Coyne but instead leave it in storage and bring it home the next weekend on a flatbed. Well before I got a chance to get back out there I had truck issues and that just about killed off the month of December but I got the car back home and to a local guy who thought he had things worked out in time to get me back out into the dunes for the January trip but a last second spin around the block let me know the car wasn't fixed. Didn't get the car back until the end of the month, but I did get out early Feb and it worked flawlessly. Next up was a trip in late Feb with the plans to go with my old crew the following weekend for the OSR but that started falling apart and a six-year-old wanted to wear a princess dress for to the Renn Fair so that trip that was just going to be barley an overnighter crapped the bed as well, good thing too I would of been coming home when that big crash had I-10 shut down for 8 hours and a bunch of people died in a dust storm/ massive pile-up.
So now we are into March and the last weekend in the Month was chosen for the Golf Tourney, We had decided to make at least one more trip in April before bringing the trailers home but a kiddie track in W14 took out one of the cars. That ended the season so No October, No January and No April trips. No 10-day escapes and no Wednesday arrivals.
Fewest days spent in the dunes in 25 years

6 trips from Vets to last weekend in March. About 30 days in the Dunes. Weather was Awesome every trip. March trips had the best dunes and our Dune Family was amazing as always. Can’t wait for next season

Bitter sweet. 50 yrs going and it was my last “season” in Glamis. Not done duning, just in Glamis. But where I'm going “this” season isn’t over!!!

I smell St. Anthony's in your future...

😎

First year that we didn't have a NEW truck that was constantly, relentlessly throwing codes and going into walk mode. $90.000 headache.
First year we didn't have a NEW Toy Hauler with suspension and hydraulic issues. A $130.000 headache.

Patience, perseverance and a serious amount of money changing hands in both directions got us through it for this was a good year with a good Toy Hauler and reliable truck and worth the frustration and heartbreak of past to get here.

Now,, if we can avoid Prius drivers that have almost totaled us on the I 10,,

Some big highs and some big lows. Countless hours on the generators and most nights ever for me with no short trips the entire season and I'm cutting it shorter than ever - as much as I'd love to continue the fun, the car is already dropped off with Karl for R&D and trailers are pulled home with the 5th wheel being cleaned and polished so we can prep for Stagecoach.
Some lessons learned this season.
  1. Too much trash in the dunes and I'm not talking about the kind you pick up... douchebags. Don't be one. The good still outweigh the bad for now.
  2. Spending that many nights in the dunes you get tired of everything smelling like smoke and it is cheaper to burn straight 91 in smudgies (and not smell like wood smoke every day) than have firewood delivered.
  3. With Vets the weekend after Camp Razr (and me never ever doing that again) my season needs to start in early October to get all the trailers equipment, cars, etc set and dialed so I can focus on the event and not housekeeping and my personal shit. I told myself that two years ago and ignored it this season, no longer an option - Columbus Day will be our latest first shakedown trip from now on.

Not a single day this 2024-25 "season".

7 years now. I almost can't believe it.

Ugh. Had some sxs issues in Utah in May. Got a couple day trips in the woods with the kids on quads over the summer.
Finally got the sxs fixed and was a month from our annual spring break Glamis trip and my son broke his damn foot wrestling requiring surgery. So that blew our Glamis trip.
Heading to either Little Sahara Utah or White Wash Utah for memorial day.

Non existent. Sad. New house is taking all my money. And now I'm doing some motorhome maintenance, that turned into $4400 and a shit ton of my time.
Still haven't built my engine. Still in boxes. Next season is likely a no go as well.

Four trips if I remember correctly, but I spend time in Ocotillo Wells and Superstition also. I got a late start this year after swapping in a Honda V6 over the summer and it took well into fall to get some things sorted out. I'm pretty happy with the extra power from what I had, but I will be making some suspension upgrades over the summer.

One flat tire and a cracked a arm is my damage report. We were able to fix and keep duning, but didn't get as many runs in as I had hoped. Oh yeah, my windshield got peppered in a wind storm on my last trip home. Not bad enough to replace; just enough to be annoying in certain sun angles.

We had a lot of dirt bikes in our group that went out of commission this season, but I guess that's just how it goes. My son's bike being the fourth one to break down just this last weekend. Add it to the list for stuff to fix this summer.

My goal for next season is to be out there more during the week.

Was going great, till I lost my motor last trip of January.
Up till then, 1240 duning miles this season, 31 days and 7 trips.
Got new motor put in and running, just did a day trip to Buttercup Saturday.
Ran great.

St Anthony's for 10 days in June!!!!!!! Can't wait!!!!!!!
