After Months of searching I found my next tow rig. 2019 F350 6.7L 450HP. I flew to Oregon and drove it home from the dealer. Not a Ford dealer, a private dealer. Took the dealer some time to send the DMV near me the paper work. So I have been driving it for about a month. I was incredibly impressed with the power this thing has. I can spin the stock tires while I am going 50 MPH. I am also in LOVE with all of the features. Can't believe how comfortable this thing is along with it's brute force towing capabilities.

FF a month and I noticed the DEF tank never gets low LoL. I began to wonder. Sure enough as I went to smog it per Ca req's the smog person told me this truck has been DEF deleted and the factory software has been over written with a tune and is why the DEF tank stays at 1/3rd full, and no check engine lights, and has 500+ power. My suspicions confirmed.

I am not giving this truck up. I have properties in Washington, Arizona & Idaho. So I am going to do what I need to do. But I have a couple questions if anyone knows?

Since Ca already has it registered with the taxes and fees all paid to the tune of nearly $5000 what happens if I just never finish that process? And do I need to ecourage the dealer to help me in the process? I am assuming it's illegal for them to sell a deleted truck.
Thanks for any all all advice -gino

I’d register it in an LLc out of Montana or AZ or NV

Great question. I will call the smog place and find out.
So Yes Ca knows immediately once it's hooked to the machine.

There's a good chance of that smog place flagged you as a tamper. Bastards did it to me when I bought a motor home and someone had cut out the converter and told me it didn't need one because it was a federal vehicle. Now I have to smog the SOB every year...

Just got off the phone with the dealer. They are going to "re-call" the reg attempt in Cali. They are going to get all the money and paper work back from Cali and then assist me in registering it elsewhere. I'll keep you posted

Doesn't the dealer have to have it pass smog in order to sell it ? At least that's what I thought.

Yes, it is illegal to sell a deleted truck in Oregon. Tampering with a vehicle emmision system violates Federal law, and Oregon supposedly enforces that law. (funny since we are a sanctuary state that refuses to enforce other Federal laws)
With that said, almost everyone I know have deleted trucks. I think the only area that requires smog checks is the Portland metro area. I'm sure deleted trucks are bought and sold everywhere in Oregon except for the PDX metro area.
It was disreputable for that dealer to sell you that truck especially if he knew you were from CA. Douche move. You might have some recourse?

Edit: I see you posted as I was writing. Good the dealer stepped up and did the right thing. I retract my douche comment, got the cart in front of the horse on that one!

If in Nevada it has to be in a rural area, pretty much anywhere in Nevada with the exception of Las Vegas. everyone in Pahrump is deleted,

I've been noticing every other diesel here in Missoula whistles and screams like crazy.
