Looking for some people with experience running a Turbo Honda & S4. Building a light weight 2-seat car for my son. Going to run a 450-500hp turbo Honda & 33’s tire.

Obviously a 2D can get the job done but is there a down side to the S4/S5? Is going to the larger box a diminished return because it’s going to rob power and add weight?

Follow up question would you run the smaller diff & 930’s with the S4?

Two years on a turbo Honda (500+HP) and a 2D. Great setup and super reliable. I considered upgrading to an S4 simply to turn up the power on the Honda. Not sure on the weight difference between the 2D and S4 but I have a feeling it’s significant.

Not having the low end torque with the J series you should be fine with the 2D as there are tons of Turbo Hondas out there running that combo.

I feel the 2d with the Honda is a solid combo. Obviously an s4 would be better. Driving style and budget will determine which is needed. I’d wheelie my light 4 seat car with my family in it. 2d went 5 years before the new owner broke it.

I ran a turbo Honda/2d combo for many years. Tranny usually lasted 3 years before it needed a refresh. I was getting 35ish duning days a year back then.

weight differance is approx 50lbs between the 2d and the s4. ive thought of building a light weight 2 seater with a turbo'd k series honda and a s4. im thinking s4 simply for the sequential part but also if i didnt like the k series, i would be already set for a built j series.

I ran the Honda 2D and loved it. You said light car and with it being light I think a 2D would be just fine.
