Ol' girl been sittin'..
I knew it had fuel system issues and I didn't have the time or money to F with it....so it slowly got parked, several years ago.
Fast forward to about a year ago. We hired a new engineer kid at work that LOVES working on car shit. Kid's hands/brain are constantly about tinkering.. Rebuilt the 6L80 in his TT Camaro in the driveway... He wanted a DMAX to haul his projects around. Told him about my DMAX and he was infatuated with what I told him I had built years ago. Must've sent him on a mission. He picks up a 250k 2wd CCSB LB7. Loves it. Well, I have a FUCKING MOUNTAIN of used once/bought and didn't use/just extra LB7 shit just sitting in my garage. Full 4" exhaust systems, tuners, etc.. He's a great kid, so I just open the vault. If you want it, it's yours kiddo. Have at it, I ain't usin' it...burn rubber.
After he installs all the booty I gave him, mind you with zero leverage...take it and have fun. He bombs me in my office one day.."so, when are we gonna get yours running?'. "WE"? Hadn't crossed my mind. Really? You wanna do this? He's all in. Wasn't in my wheelhouse..at all. But, this kid sparked it. I had bought most of the shit I thought I needed, but couldn't get my lazy azz to just do it...
We start by installing a new fuel tank, old one was full of sludge...replacing all the low side rubber fuel lines, and filter head.
Most of the fuel lines and feed system were modified using JIC/AN type stuff, so that was all refreshed. At one point his truck made 600hp to the tire..so the whole fuel pickup assembly was -10 line from inside the tank..
We only work on it a couple hours a night one night a week. Been chipping away at it. But, she should fire next week.
Last night my wife hits me with "do you think I can take it yard saling/selling.?"..TF.? She's afraid to take my TBSS because she thinks it has too much power after she almost spun it into the curb. The expression of defeat on her face after me telling her that the truck makes 1.5x the HP the TBSS does was rather comical..
