But how fast is too fast?

If for some reason, you can’t see the video it’s a new NVR running 120 miles an hour.. 😳

I can’t imagine how many people are gonna get killed in these new generation a side-by-side that all of them literally run above 80 without breaking a sweat. And 80 miles an hour is hauling ass in the dirt.

I'm afraid at that kind of speed the standard sxs will end up a mangled ball of cheap metal if something bad happens that your not going to walk away from.

My XP1000 would do 81-82mph. My first X3 with 32" tires and a tune did 93-94. Current X3 has the speed limiter and somewhere in the 80s it tops out.

On dry lake beds matted to top speed is fun for a short burst.

There is a story that during the last Vegas to Reno race Phil Blurton blew past Brandon Sims on one of the dry lake beds. Sims was doing 106 or so MPH and Phil blew past him doing 120mph.

Reality is most owners are not going to get it over 70mph in the dirt or dunes.

I had an X3 on 34’s that I ran down the highway at 84-85 mph once…. It got spooky to say the least..

I will say in my speed 80’ish mph isn’t scary at all and I’m assuming the new Mac r’s are the same way..

With regard to the original post if you wad a trophy truck at 120 you are taking your life in your own hands.. I don’t think you’d survive in a SXS regardless of brand.

Unfortunately, excessive speed will be the reason why there will be future litigations and new rules set in place to prevent the public from hurting themselves.

I have been over 100 MPH through some nasty whoops in a class 10 car, which is a professionally built race car with all of the safety equipment on. None of these "off the showroom floor" UTV's should be capable of allowing just anyone to go that fast.

It's one thing if that driver only hurt themselves due to lack of talent at those speeds, it's another when that driver hurts others just out enjoying their day.

The Mav R will only hit 120 if you remove the speed limiter. But even left alone the Mav R will do over 90mph and the Pro R is not far behind.

My X3 felt stable at 90+ on the dry lake beds, but it was still scary as you are hoping you don't find the one soft spot. My XP1000 at 75 started to get sketchy.

Highway driving in a SXS always felt more sketchy than the dirt.

The XP900 would do over 75mph. The speeds the sport UTVs and even some of the utility UTVs are capable of reaching has always been up there.

I'm in such a different category as far as driving.
I've had my Can Am up to 76, it was a wide pole line road and super smooth. But I just like to cruise a good pace 40-50 when it is clear cause you never know what is around the corner or if you start drifting/sliding????
Pretty much the reason I run sweep in our group...I can just cruise my own pace.
Now I know when you buy these things, the sales guy is all about...these things can eat up anything and pretty much are a trophy truck with a rubberband, can drink Earle gray tea without spilling a drop, hit 12 foot whoops at a Buck-Three eighty, blahtee blah blah....
I just choose not to!
LMAO

Top end stock on the Pro R is good enough for me. Was following a few buggies last week and we ended up at 84mph down the flats on Gecko. Wasn't sketchy at that speed but things can still go bad in a hurry. 70s don't bug me a bit but I have no reason to be above that.

Flat lake beds you wouldn’t feel it as much because the car will drift around.. on pavement you could feel the car getting “light” in the low 80’s.. just gave me a real comfort feeling and I decided it wasn’t in my best interest to keep it up lol.

In my speed 70+ feels like your cruising.. it doesn’t do anything weird, but I need to get my belt case modified because the belt temps
Start getting hot.

They will get cancelled, just like three wheelers did. For those of you old enough to remember.
