Well in in early 2024 I decided I wanted to redo the Funco. Ill post up before and after and add in some progress pics as well.

Car started off as a 2004 Gen 4 with a Turbo Honda and Fortin Sequential. No frills but did have a full body.

Here is the list of changes made -

Chassis -
Gen 6 front end, radius roof, stretch rear cage, enclose rear doors and add steps, add doors to front, raise radiator, upper and lower motor mounts for LS, Upper transmission Brace, triangulate rear removable engine cage, add gussets and additional tubing for strength all around car as needed, new full body, curved windshield, dash, center console, radiator cover, cooler mount, foot rest, steering shaft and mount, APR Carbon Rear wing, Im sure im forgetting some things.

Engine -
LS6 swap, Tom Face Headers 2into1, Motion Raceworks Catch Cans and Steam Vent setup, 20AN radiator hoses, BTR valve covers and plug wires, Sweet P/S pump, Aeromotive brushless A1000 with Pre and Post filters and fuel shut off.

Fortin -
Full rebuild, new R/P, new 3rd gear, all new diff gears, new oil pump

Electrical -
Auto Meter Digital Dash with Speedometer, Switch Pros 9100 x2, Lowrance HDS7 Live GPS, Airlift 3P system, Rugged Radios with Car to Car, all lights LED Baja Designs, USB chargers for phones, dual odyssey PC925 batteries, full rewire of engine/car.

Misc -
Funco MPI Steering wheel and quick release, 17" Rear wheels with 14.50x17 #2 cut rear paddles, Funco Shifter/turn brake setup, driver seat slider, Moved fuel fill to side of radiator shroud, Funco/King 3" Gen 6 shocks front and rear, Powder coating everything, all new PTFE hoses for brakes, P/S and fuel lines, new Timkin bearings in front and rear hubs, new CV's,

It was a long process and it took alot longer than I anticipated. But it came out amazing.

Thanks to the following for helping make it happen -
Jason at Next Level Motorsports
Ricky at Kartek
Dennie at Foddrill Mortorports
Kevin at McMullen Fabrication

Came out great. I know the feeling on cost and time line. Congrats. One thing you should consider. I had Karl at Shock Talk redo my one season 3.0 Kings I got from Funco. Holy Crap what a difference. Karl has figured out the Funco shocks.

I totally blew my budget with this... Its all the little things you just dont think of when your starting a project of this size, well, and honestly its adding to it as you go with its just one more change mentality.

I was wondering about the shock setup, especially since they are setup for a Gen6, and im sure a basic starting point. What are the differences of having Shock Talk go through them? Just valving?

Honestly all that is magic to me. I don't know. What I do know is its night and day difference from out of the box from Grant to what Karl did. Just his valving without tuning was amazing. I was hesitant to even go back and tune after the shock work. It was sooooo much better. Then we went out together. Karl rode passenger. We stopped at least 6 times for him to make adjustments. Money well spent in my opinion.

I will add to that of having Karl do your shocks. @Grease Monkey - great call out.
you have the looks, now let Karl update the ride. Sean brown is another guy you can ask for on opinion. He had his Gen 4 and Gen 6, both cars improved in dune speed drastically. Ive spent some time with Karl and have driven a couple cars that he has touched, He really is a wizard with shocks.
Im still in the part of the Sandcar build that keeps wiping out my wallet and wondering when Im going to have something to show for it :ROFLMAO:😓
Shock Talk will touch my car last when finished.

Check with Grant to see if the shocks you got from him have the new set-up from King or if you got them before this was done. Funco worked with a King engineer and a few test cars and the shocks have a completely new set-up going forward. I don’t know at what point the change was made though. I know my new car being built right now will have the new shocks

Wow that turned out amazing, you can’t count the cost when you come up with a masterpiece.

Here are some pics from the start of build. Dropping off the car with Jason at Next Level Motorsports.

Jason and his team did amazing work on the car. Looking back at the progress pics, I see little things that I added such as the tie down points, rear tow hook and back up camera that you just forget about.

Did they powder coat the chassis or steel it ? That windshield looks so good. Congrats on the makeover.

What partially prompted the remodel was an electrical gremlin I had been chasing for 2 seasons. Sometimes the starter would drag, and sometimes it would just click. Batteries wouldn't hold a charge and so on. I thought it was the starter, so I replaced it, I thought it was an alternator, so I replaced it, I thought it was dead batteries, so I replaced them, and went through wire after wire... To no avail. I decided I was going to rewire the whole car with all new, well during disassembly, I found my gremlin...

I went and looked at this car before you bought it. You did an amazing job! Night and day difference!

Tin work is absolutely amazing. That is some serious work. Love it!

Thank you! I was looking at cars and I only purchased this one because it had a Fortin in it. Everything else I was looking at had the 2D.

Jason does awesome tin work. Ill post up the inside dash and center console and more of the radiator shroud when I can move them from my phone to computer.
