EFF JURY DUTY

I haven't had jury duty in forever. I'm imagining the jurors being a little contentious with all the attitudes and political atmosphere going on.
Good luck boss!

I was selected to serve on a grand jury back in the '90s. Back then you served for a month if selected, not sure if they still do that. It was eye opening. There are a lot of crimes the public never hears about, and most of that was children being abused in varying ways, sexual, physical, an psychologically. A hell of a lot of this sick shit is going on and it's not covered by any media so the public is unaware of how prevalent it is.

Also did one other jury duty for a lawsuit. One thing I took away from that was how many jurors base their decisions on emotion and not the actual law.

Jury duty sucks but is a necessary evil in our justice system!

Just go, you might find it interesting. Because you're a business owner who is active in your day-to-day operations, it's likely you can be dismissed. Contrary to popular belief, the courts do not try to screw over the people they need for the judicial system to work. Here in Phoenix, if you're selected for a jury you can apply for and get awarded up to 80% of your salary while being a juror. Call the night before, you may not even have to report in. My wife has to go next month.

Jury duty is a civic obligation and a core part of the legal system, ensuring a fair and impartial decision-making process for those accused of crimes or involved in civil disputes. By serving on a jury, citizens participate in a critical function of government, ensuring a fair trial and equal treatment under the law for all..

Never been selected, go figure.

Oh I'm going. Day two.
Had the same initial feeling as John but after the start of this I'm pissed.

If you never receive the summons....they can't arrest you.....the USPS sucks and I haven't seen one in years. Between the lazy postal people and the tweakers we rarely get anything important in the mail.

I just tell them my father was an attorney and I have a healthy distrust of authority. Strangely enough, I've been dismissed every time . . .

@Poule43 100% Truth
Last time I had to actually report in person, I wore a Punisher shirt.
Comic Book character that is holding (2) smoking 45's with skulls at the end of the smoke.
I was not picked.....hmmmmmm!
LOL

Actually, If I was retired, I think it would be interesting to get on a case.

there is tracking on the mail piece but its not the same tracking as when you get a priority mail piece. in bedded in the barcode under the address is a tracking serial number. but the piece is only scanned when going through the postal machines, not by any individual postal employee. they can show it was out for delivery but not actual delivery. but the court can send an officer to your house to hand deliver a summons.

My brother was a little more direct and told them, "I effing hate Cops" (back when we used to Street Race and he had lots of in custody interactions)... has not seen a Summons, since.

If you need to be out of there as your life and job are falling apart while you are buying billet parts for your rail while waiting in a holding room - You can also say this " I am 100% pro law enforcement. I have family and a lot of police friends. I would love to serve but please realize I am WAY to the side of the police."

you will not be selected. A good friend that worked the courts told me this....

When I am retired, I also want to get on a jury, maybe a fun week?

I had jury duty Christmas week last year, called in on the Monday, then forgot about it and went to Glamis. I am currently not incarcerated.:)

I had been served by two sheerfis years back for jury duty. I threw them all away prior to.

Officially on a jury trial as of today.
