I’m looking at getting new 930 axles and CVs for my 4 SU ultra light. After talking to some friends about getting a new axle/cv set up, they all immediately recommended 300m over the chromoly axles. CV recommendations varied
What HP are chromoly 930 axles rated for and the same for the 300m?
I called a couple shops and they suggested the 930 chromoly axles are rated for 500hp
Open to any input before I pull the trigger on the purchase is appreciated. I have other parts I want to purchase for the car so I’m trying to budget but also don’t want to cheap out and breakdown next trip out.

Car has a 2D and ej25 subie tuned at 450hp to the crank. At least that’s what the previous owner claimed

300m is better in everyway other than price...

300m is pretty much 4340 on "steroids".

Biggest differences is higher vanadium & silicon composition making it tougher and more ductile.

Also another great benefit of 300m MTL, 300m is usually produced using VAR (vacuum arc remelting) When they melt the melting it is in a vacuum to remove impurities in the micro structure of the metal. Very similar to welding with gas.

MTL cost of 300m compared to a 4340/4140 "chromoly" is drastic.

I'm going on about 10 years with latest rage chromoly axles which are about the cheapest you can get. 1 year was with the turbo hondas, 6 years with the ls1, and last 3 years with the 418 LS3.
