Consider getting a 2010ish KTM 690 Enduro..I had that motor in a supermoto and loved it...6 speeds. I had a drz400 before that, it was too slow...IIRC the 690 was only like 30 pounds heavier. Power and the weight of the 690 was perfect.

drove around trails in Yuma...about 75 miles and stopped at a brewery along the way. The was first time trail riding in the area, pretty cool...but I wouldn't do the trail through the mountains again - about an hour of slow rocky trails, not my thing.
