Awesome work MAC!
I swear everyone's family crest is that Lowenbrau logo!
I have to get a pic of ours and it is almost the same. Gotta hit up my brother for it, LOL

I wasn't going to do this but here goes.

I have a 2008 Suspensions Unlimited Ultralight 2 seat mid engine car, 2.5 turbo Subi and a Mendi 2D. Love this car. It fits me to a "T". Tons of power for such a small, light car. Up to this point, I've only done a few small things to it since I bought it (2018). Replaced the HIDS with an LEDs, swapped the hydraulic steering for electric, a few other "cleanup" things on the wiring, plumbing, etc... I have been wanting to do an update to it and make it "mine". I've been buying parts for years and setting aside. I have tried a few times to get into a fab guy and do the body and a couple other things. I finally just did it. It took me out this season but here we are.

Here's the list so far:
- New body
- New computer/digital display. I'm going with a Fueltech FT550. It's a one piece unit. The digital display and ECU are one unit. It offers a lot of features and such. It offers some diagnosis on the screen to help troubleshoot. I'm not a nerd so I really don't know all specifics or how to explain it. I plan on learning as I go.
- Baja Designs lighting. Everyone knows I love night rides so, let's turn night into DAY!
- Switchpro
- New turbo manifold. Out with the old coated mild steel and in with the new stainless one.
- Total strip down and new powder coat, new hardware, all new wiring, all new plumbing.
- New harnesses. I'm going to probably stick with Crows as I do like them.

List of "Maybes":
- New seats. If I do, I'll do JetTrims.
- Been researching new/different engines. If I do anything else, I'll most likely go with a Honda 3.5 turbo. Big thing here is more repair options and hopefully...pump gas.

I live in Havasu too. Who did your body work?

Not really. Still in a funk.

I got the alignment done and really only have a few things left. Bleed the brakes, fill the fluids, sand and powder coat a few more panels, and then dyno tune it.

I'm at that stage where it's almost done but every time I work on it, I feel something is wrong and the WHOLE thing needs to come apart and start over. I'm being stupid but I've put so much work into it, I want it perfect. I'm tired of putting money into it. There has to be a point where I say ENOUGH. I've even started looking at new and different cars thinking I want those now.

Anyone else go through this while building/rebuilding their cars?

STOP / Breathe - And just finish it. You DO NOT want another car - This one will be perfect. - The OCD - Manic / Depression Episodes these projects require MESS WITH YOUR HEAD BIG TIME

Plow Thru It - Get it shaken down cuz there will be more issues - Just Finish It - GOOD times with your new Gem are ahead - I promise !

"Keep Plowing Forward"

I know.

I told my wife, I'll finish it, shake it down and work out any issues. If I don't "love it", I'll list it. Someone will get a "new" car that is 100% ready to go. I'm no longer going to force things or talk myself into it.

I may go all in on boating...maybe buy a plane, buy a mountain property, or do the clique thing of going back to restoring an old car. I don't know.

You won't know till you finish it.......

No sense in starting another hobby IMO, plus it's in the way and you won't get what it's worth if you sell it as is.

You started this now finish it. Never knew you as a quieter.

Make a pot of black coffee with a hole in the filter. Drink it grounds and all. Then throw away the estrogen pills. Take your shirt off and tan those man boobs. Tan boobs look better than white boobs.

Finish The Car / Shake it down - Fix It to RELIABLE - You are not selling it Or Going all in Boating OR buying a plane or Mountain Property Or restoring an Old Car

You are going to take your NEW CAR to Glamis for a 3 Week Minimum Trip ! There is NO substitute for Reliable Car and and ATC 70 and TIME IN GLAMIS without all the noise........THAT is what you need - NOT a new other thing....... Reliability and TIME IN GLAMIS !!!

I am 100% Correct ! Trust Me ! Everything else is Hype and BS - RELIABILITY AND TIME with your stuff !!!

The whole point of this rebuild is to refresh it and ensure it's reliable. Come on...you know how I roll. I never want to be someone else's problem or mess up a ride.

With that said, I've always wanted a plane. I missed out on an opportunity a few years ago to great deal. Still kicking myself over that. I also would love a second home/get a way...AND...who doesn't want a nice old car?

I do have an old trail bike I bought a few years ago to restore. I'll get to that and then terrorize my town soon enough.

@Mac Trust me I have been down this road with my first long travel, looking for parts for the first one and found a car I just couldn’t live without yea right dumbest thing I ever did. It has been 10 years and I still am kicking my a$$. Finish the car you have an awesome car going here don’t screw it up now you will regret it if you don’t finish it and enjoy the fruits of your labor and funds. If you want any of the other stuff figure out a different way time comes sooner than we think that life changes direction and then you will be doing other things like the mountain retreat. Finish the car and go have fun this fall.

1. Finish (I mean really FINISH the SU)

2. Rebuild Trail Bike during summer / fall

3. Get SU to dunes for a LONG trip - Enjoy it / tinker with it / make a list....et

4. Search for a plane / boat / atc 70....whatever and start a new project

5. REPEAT #3 Over and Over !
