What is the scam? Phone call asking if Ben Brittain (Me) is available. Then immediate hang up.

I agree with the "never say yes". I have been practicing that for a couple years.

I used to say "who is this?", but lately if I'm someplace really noisy (like the gym) I just put it on speaker phone so they can hear, or if it's not too noisy I literally cough to trigger whatever sound activation they have. I wait 5 seconds to see if they speak and if it's someone I have done business with. But if no answer or they don't convince me, I hang up. Them knowing my name doesn't even count. They have to assertively justify why they are calling very quickly.

I NEVER answer unless I know who it is. I am very close to enabling "Only accept calls from people in your contacts" option.

I have been doing this on my work phone and personal phone for a few years. I have never missed an important call, if its someone i know from a different number they leave a message and i call them right back.

just this week my work phone has screened 14 spam call and my personal 5 spam calls.

This is a new scam. Scammer can use AI to get phases and capture your voice. Then they can use it for whatever they want.

Some have used this to call family and ask for money. It's crazy what criminals can do with AI.
