Don't worry, @Reece Pettersen, sky and I will be there this weekend to burn through every single dune from China Wall to the border

Alumicraft.. what’s the story and the kinds?

I take it those are VW type 1 hubs? Edit: just saw the above responses. Yes that's probably what they are

Alumicraft.. what’s the story and the kinds?

Here's a few more photos of my favorites I've saved. I've never driven a 4 seater of that vintage @HP.Habits, interested to hear what your take is on it. The 2 seats are incredible, but interested in how the wheelbase of the 4 seaters do. Add a B-pilar if you are doing any fab work. My car...

    Water line routing

Perfect, I'll drop it down low then. I would go to braided but my pickups are welded to the water pump. If I ever go to a Meziere pump I'll switch

    2004 Alumicraft 2-Seat Pre-Runner turned Sand Car

Couple notes about this car: - The car was originally built for Jim Anderson, who has been involved in the racing community for a very long time. Jim Anderson and Guy Evans (previous owner of my car, who then owned the alumicraft baja bug) went to John Cooley to have this car, and my car built...

    Water line routing

My return water line has always gone up over the top of my headers. I've always thought it was too dangerously close to the headers on one side, and plug wires on the other. It hasn't been an issue yet in the dunes, but our baja trip finally cooked it since we were driving 2+ hours at a time...

Alumicraft.. what’s the story and the kinds?

Safe to say we like our alumicrafts. I think we have around 9 of them in our group now. I think the term "dual sport" is used entirely too frequently, but damn can these cars do everything exceptionally well. I've been able to drive early 00 alumicrafts, and brand new race car alumicrafts, they...

    Wiring questions

On most cars using those style relays (most without switch pros) the relays are for: 1 - Fuel pump, 1 - Ignition, 2 - Fans (one each fan). Your fifth relay might be for the stereo, but if it has an inline fuse then maybe it's for something else. None of those other current circuits would need a...

VIN by CHP Special Construction CA DMV

When I went through it with my last truck, the DMV gave me the paperwork as a reference to the CHP. I can't remember what the form number was though.

    What Batteries do you run?

2 separate grounds. One to chassis, and one to chassis that is at the engine mounts for redundant ground to block. I had the computer wire direct to the battery so it wouldn't have to go through the "relearn" process when started again. But I think it should store even if I run it through the...

    What Batteries do you run?

Maybe this will be my next choice then. I have a legit disconnect. Problem is with the car in storage, I don't have the opportunity to put a trickle charger on them. I also have a direct wire for my computer that may be the source of my slow drain. May need to run that through the disconnect...

    What Batteries do you run?

When I bought my car I had 2 Odyssey ODS-AGM42L group 26 batteries. They were on their last legs, so I put 1 single Full Throttle FT560 in it. That battery didn't make it through 2 seasons. Now I need some new batteries and plan on putting 2 new ones in. My battery tray is built around these...

Insured Value for Higher End Sandcar

Just got my renewal from Statefarm, up 100%. When I called she said "it's because all of the SxS drivers keep totaling their vehicles" No other options I've found yet. It's wild how expensive it is now.
